I was the first one into work today, and I walked right into about 5,000 calories of treats on my desk. Well... probably more. I got Lindt truffles from my boss, Trader Joe's designer chocolates from my boss's boss, and a can of Piroulines from my boss's boss's boss.
WELL, the Piroulines come in 2 varieties-- chocolate hazelnut (YUM) and strawberry (a little less appealing, if you ask me). My can, of course, was strawberry. So I snuck over to my coworker's desk and switched. She's in the Bahamas this week-- she won't know the difference... and I'm guessing if she's on a awesome vacation she won't CARE. But just in case, let's keep this between you and me ;)

I like to blog. I just don't have anything to blog about
So, what's up? I'm hanging out at home. It's almost noon-- so far today I've checked email, watched a movie, took a nap and finally a shower. I took the day off to get some Christmas shopping done. So much for that. I'm gonna go to costco with momma dukes, maybe get an emissions test done, then get ready for a GIRLS WEEKEND at the WOODS. Ash's family has a house in this resort type area in WV. It's pretty awesome.
One thing I can certainly endorse this holiday season is catch phrase music edition. Endless hours of entertainment. Try it out sometime. I'd be happy to participate ;)
Yesterday was our holiday party at work. For some silly reason they thought martinis were a good idea, as if enough tables didnt get knocked over and glasses didnt break last year just serving beer and wine. Certinaly got the party going a little quicker. By 3 pm half the staff was googley eyed and giggly. LOVE IT!! In typical fashion, there was great food, a raffle (I didn't win SHIT!), some live music (complete with a conga line and our CEO trying to keep up with a group of ladies that have some killer moves and KARAOKE. Love me some karaoke-- it's a crowd pleaser!
x's and o's to everyone-- i have to get ready to go!!

Bizzare...
Does anyone else thing impromptu meetings in the bathroom at work is a bit odd? The other day I walked in and 3 women were jibberjabbering (probably about their male colleagues) in the damn bathroom. What is a girl like me to do? I can't very well walk back out-- that would be sketchy. But I don't really want them listening to me pee (I'm especially weird about that). And to make matters worse, they didn't even talk loud enough for me to hear. WTF?! If you're going to alienate others while they use the facilities, at least have the decency to cut them in on the gossip.
So anyway... yesterday (my 4th day at Target in a ROW! woot woot!) I bought this really cute (a penguin in a hat and scarf) coffee mug because I'm trying to be "green" and not use disposable. Wouldn't you know, the damn thing doesn't fit under the coffee dispenser. So now I have to use a disposable to fill my regular. It does keep my coffee warm longer! And the crazy advocacy lady told me I was allowed to leave my used disposable on the counter all day to keep refilling. Somehow I doubt everyone else will be down with that plan.

Sean Taylor
I should start off by paying my respects to the man-- he was obviously well liked, an accomplished football player and a dad.
Now my theory: Good Ol' Sean was killed by a crazy ex-girlfriend. Cutting the phone line and shooting him in the groin? Sounds like a passionate crime. And they were obviously going after him. I think whoever shot him was trying to cause pain and make it difficult for him to have sex ever again-- probably not kill him.
In any event, Rest In Peace, Sean Taylor. You were taken too soon!!!

BACK! By popular demand!
I got some feedback this weekend. I stopped blogging because I thought no one was reading it. But, I got promises from a few special people in my life and I have decided to give it a go-- AGAIN!
Problem is... I don't know what to write about. Sometimes I'll be driving along and start LOL'ing to myself. Those are good things to blog about, but who the hell remembers that kind of stuff?
Well, I just had a thought: being nice is not the opposite of being mean. Similar principle of the opposite of love is not hate-- it's indifference.
You know how I remember to spell priniciple right? PrinciPAL (like a friend) is that witch in the school that always calls your parents when you do something wrong or get something stuck in your teeth like a zipper. No friend of mine!!! I'm on the girl's team who has the zipper in her teeth. WORRRRRD!

girl POWER!
My most proud girl power moment was when my ex-boyfriend and I were breaking up. It was right around his birthday-- I returned all the presents I bought him and bought myself a ring with a few diamonds. Granted, they're small... but diamonds no less. I wear it all the time and everytime I look at it I'm reminded how important it is to be true to myself.

My Beautiful Chinese Baybees
Early this morning, two of my favorite people boarded a plane, China-bound. Cara and Jexa, armed with 100% deet, will spend 6 weeks teaching English in China, which I'm sure will prove to be quite an adventure. Then they will part ways to tour around the wild wild east.
Cara (Care-ah) is the sweetest person that ever walked the earth. Whether you need a good meal, a shoulder to cry on or a good laugh, she's reliably there. Her energy is amazing-- always planning excursions and trips and finding fun new adventures. I'm pretty sure the 3 months she is gone will be rather uneventful for the rest of us...
Jexa's great too. She'll tell you exactly what you need to hear, whether it feels good or not. You can count on her to be honest and up front- she's not afraid to tell you when you're wrong (which is something we ALL NEED). She operates with everyone's best interest in mind, and often confronts issues others are afraid to. Always taking life by the horns, you know you're going to be OK when reveling with Jexa...
So, these two pillars of my sanity are gone for the rest of the summer. I'll live vicariously through them and their photo blogs (since they're both picture fiends), emails and blog posts. They're doing something I'm way too chicken to try.
LOVE YOU JEXA AND CARA, I'm anxiously awaiting your return (even though you're not even there yet!). Let me know if you need targistat. <3!!!!

Monthly Mixes
So... you've heard about my monthly mixes? If you haven't, I feel sorry for you. They're pretty much the best mixes that ever were. My list of monthly subscribers is growing exponentially.
People often wonder where the inspiration comes from for said mix CDs. Well, it's a pretty laid back process. I keep a pen and paper with me in the car, and whenever I hear a song that I would like to hear over and over and over again, I write it down. Pretty simple. When I feel like I have a handful of quality songs, I download and create a playlist. The real creativity comes in when I have to then look through songs I already have to compliment and complete the play list.
Order is also important. You want your CD to start out with a bang. Equally important is a strong finish. Things to consider are seasons, holidays, current events and state of mind. A good mix CD not only is a pleasure to listen to; it tells the story of your life for a brief period of time. In my case, generally about a month.

Hit by a cab...
I was on my way to grab breakfast this morning when I saw a biker get hit by a cab. No major damage done... or this story would be a lot more interesting. Just a bent wheel and some angry words exchanged.
My initial reaction was "stupid cab driver!" but after thinking about it a little longer, I think I've changed my mind. I must say, as a pedestrian, more of my close calls walking around this city have been with bikers rather than cars. If you drive in the road, follow the rules of the road: stop at stop signs, red lights, etc.
I was too far away to hear how the conversation ended, but from where I was, it looked like the biker just walked away with a busted ass bike!

I always admire people that have funny things to say
Sometimes I poke around blogs... and often find myself wondering what I would write about if I had one. I'm still not sure... but I thought there would be no better way to find out than starting one.
My friends are kind enough to laugh at the things I say, and for that reason, I feel like I have the bestest best friends a girl could ask for.
Right now I'm passing time at work until it's time to go FONDUE with the girls...
Sorry, I guess this post wasn't funny at all. Damn it, not even a little bit...
